ADVISORY

Whereas a number of private satellite news TV channels have been showing programmes covering round-the-clock direct telecast of the events relating to public demonstration being held in New Delhi in the wake of the unfortunate and tragic incident of gang rape of a young girl on 16th December, 2012 in a moving bus.

The channels have been covering the agitation and the efforts of the law enforcing authorities to maintain law & order, as well as the commentaries of the channel reporters to portray the incidents from their own perspectives.

Whereas this incident and the public outcry in its aftermath are a very sensitive issue and any inappropriate media reportage thereon is likely to vitiate the law and order situation.

It has been observed that some private satellite news TV channels in their 24X7 coverage have not been showing due responsibility and maturity in telecasting the events relating the said demonstration and such a telecast is likely to cause deterioration in the law & order situation, hindering the efforts of the law enforcing authorities. Whereas Rule 6(1)(e) of the Cable Television Networks Rules, 1994, which contains the Programme Code to be strictly adhered to by all private satellite television channels, provides that no programme should be carried in the cable service which is likely to encourage or incite violence or contains anything against maintenance of law and order or which promotes anti-national attitude.

Now, therefore, all private satellite television channels are advised to scrupulously follow the Progarmme Code laid down in the Cable Television Networks Rules, 1994 and to ensure to telecast the matter in a responsible manner with due care, maturity and restraint.

Any violation of the Programme Code will invite such action as provided for in the Cable Television(Regulation) Act, 1995 and the Rules framed thereunder as well as the terms & conditions stipulated in Uplinking & Downlinking Guidelines.

Eight IIM-B graduates awarded gold medals

Bangalore, March 30 (IANS) Eight bright students of the Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIM-B) were Friday awarded gold medals for their outstanding performance in the post-graduate programme (PGPs) courses at the B-school's 37th annual convocation in this tech hub.Of the 371 graduates passing out from the reputed institute in management course, gold medallists Ritesh Ritollia bagged first rank and Shravan Chandra second rank while Anish Nazimudden was judged for best all-round performance.
In the software enterprise management course, gold medallists Harsh Vitthal Badli secured first rank while P.S. Sanjeev Kumar was honoured for best all-round performance among 96 graduates.

Out of 28 students who passed in the public policy and management course, gold medallist Neelima Rebecca Phillips got the best academic performance.

Of the 62 graduates in the executive management course, gold medallists Vimal Chandra was ranked first while Harish Balkrishna Shetty was selected for best all-round performance.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor D. Subbarao, who was the chief guest at the convocation, presented the degrees to the two-year PGP batch of 571 students passing out in the four main courses.
Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, who is also chairman of the B-school, addressed the students in the presence of their parents, director Pankaj Chandra, institute faculty and distinguished invitees.
An electrical engineer from IIT-Roorkee, Ritolia will soon join Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in New Delhi, while bio-engineer from IIT-Kanpur Sharma has been selected by the global financial services firm Nomura to work in its London office.

Nazimudden, an electronics engineer from Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS) at Pilani in Rajasthan, will also join BCG as a management consultant.
Similarly, Badli, a computer science grad from Visvesvaraya Technology University (VTU) at Belgaum in Karnataka, is a geek at Honeywell Technology Solutions Ltd.

Kumar heads solutions engineering for the APAC region at Philips Lighting and Neelima is an additional general manager in the state-run BSNL at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.
Vimal Chandra, an electronics engineer from Lucknow, has worked in various capacities at Indian Oil and IT bellwether Infosys, and Shetty, an electrical engineer from Mumbai University, will soon join Tata Consulting Services (TCS) in Mumbai.

3 Tips to Help You Learn English Faster

Learning another language, especially at an older age, can be one of the most difficult tasks a person takes on in his or her life. It challenges your brain in a way most other things don't, and on top of that can be embarrassing or awkward while you are still learning.

Scary as it can be, learning another language is also very beneficial. Many people today are learning English as a second language, for example, to improve their chances at a better job and to increase their social mobility.

English is a great language to learn, but is also one of the hardest languages to master. It is inconsistent, and full of strange patterns and rules that aren't intuitive to non-native speakers.

There are, however, a few tricks you can employ to help you learn and master English:

· Record yourself speaking, and play it back to yourself. Speaking another language will not sound natural to your ear for a long time. It is important to hear yourself speaking so that you can monitor your pronunciation and fluidity, but just hearing your voice as you speak is generally not enough. Recording your voice with a tape recorder or other similar device will enable you to hear your voice neutrally, and will help you hear your errors better than you can while only speaking.

· Immerse yourself in English. When trying to learn another language, one of the most important things to do is surround yourself with examples of that language. Read English books, listen to English music, watch movies in English (subtitles can help you tremendously), and so on. The more you hear it, the more natural it will become.

· Speak English as often as you can. This tip is true no matter what language you are learning; the basic truth is that you will not learn English, or any other new language, if you do not speak it regularly, preferably with people who speak it well. It will probably be uncomfortable, but if you want to learn the language, that is one of the hurdles you'll have to jump over. People are generally understanding of language deficiencies, especially if you let them know that you are still trying to learn. Be open to suggestions, and don't take it personally if someone corrects you. Remember, you're always learning!

It will take hard work, but following these three simple steps will make learning English much easier, and hopefully will put you on the path to fluency much faster.

What is a CFA

Process to become a company secretary
To join the course, a student has to complete the following three programme :

Foundation Programme
Executive Programme
Final Programme

1. Foundation Programme
This is courses of eight months duration. The course provides knowledge in Business Communication, Business Laws and management, Principles of Accountancy and Economics and statistics.
Foundation Examination is conducted in June and December every year. Admission is open round the year and is valid for 3 years.

2. Executive Programme
After passing the Foundation Examination, the student who is above 17 years of age can register for the Executive programme. Graduates, post-graduates (excluding fine arts) and those who have passed final exam of ICWAI or ICAI or of any other accountancy Institution in India or abroad recognized by the Council of the Institute can directly enroll to the intermediate course without doing foundation course.

3. Final/Professional Programme
A student is admitted to the Final examination only after a minimum period of nine months after passing intermediate examination. The examinations are conducted twice a year in June and December. The student can appear for the professional examination only 9 months after passing the Executive programme.

Training
A candidate who has passed the Final examination of the Institute is required to possess the practical experience and undergo the practical training or be exempted there from as prescribed in the Regulations for becoming eligible to the Associate Membership of the Institute.

Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore announce admission to 5 years Integrated Post Graduate Programme in Management (IPGPM).

Eligibility

1. The candidate must have passed Higher Secondary/ XII Std/ 10+2 level/ equivalent examination from any of the recognised boards.
2. Candidate should have completed 17 years and should not be more than 19 years old by June 30, 2011.

Candidates satisfying the following minimum criteria are eligible to apply for five year integrated postgraduate programme in management (IPGP) of IIM Indore. The programme will be commencing from October 2011.

For General and NC-OBC Category: 60% Aggregate marks in Secondary/X Std/ Equivalent and 60% Aggregate marks in Higher Secondary / XII Std / + 2 / Equivalent
(OR)

SAT –1 overall score of 1600 out of 2400

For SC, ST and PWD/DA Category: 55% Aggregate marks in Secondary / X Std / Equivalent and 55% Aggregate marks in Higher Secondary / XII Std /+2 level/ Equivalent
(OR)

SAT –1 overall score of 1475 out of 2400

Note : SAT- 1 scores obtained during January 1, 2010- August 30, 2011 is only valid

How To Apply

Candidates seeking admission to the five year Integrated PGP of IIM Indore have to submit their application so as to reach IIM Indore on or before September 6, 2011 along with a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1000 (Rupees one thousand only) (Rs 500 in case of SC and ST). Application fee is payable by DD or through RTGS/NEFT to IIM.

Last date for receipt of filled application form : September 06, 2011

Selection Process

The selection process will consist of two-stages. Eligible candidates will be called for Aptitude Test (AT) and Personal Interview (PI) based on their academic performance in Secondary or equivalent, Higher Secondary or equivalent, scholastic achievements and performance in SAT-1. Candidates with no valid SAT-I scores are also eligible to apply if they satisfy the minimum requirements as mentioned above.

Final selection to the five year integrated PGP would be based on criteria, such as the candidate's academic performance at Secondary and Higher Secondary or equivalent, scholastic achievements, performance in
SAT –1 and performance in AT and PI.
